Lauren's first triathlon over ten years ago was sponsored by a local YMCA in the Chicago suburbs, and she trained all summer to be able to finish. Her second and first international triathlon was during her study abroad program in England. She steadily improved each year, and in 1991 she qualified for Ironman Hawaii. It was at this race that she unveiled the infamous shark fin helmet, which she has been racing with ever since. In 1992, she qualified for the World Championships as a member of the USA Age Group team.
Near the end of 1993, she decided it was time to join the professional ranks. She has raced the pro circuit since then, starting while studying full-time for her PT degree or working as a PT. Though she has a swimming and running background, it is on the cycling leg that she excels.
Lauren and Todd, her husband and webmaster, are currently training on the rolling roads of Southeastern Wisconsin. That is, when it's not too cold or icy!
